Peddle & Paws – Who are we?

Peddle & Paws is a small, locally owned professional dog-walking and pet-sitting service which operates in La Salle, Manitoba. We have been in operation since 2013 and pride ourselves not only on the care that we provide to pets, but also on the professional manner in which we conduct all business. It is important that our clients trust us and feel confident in allowing us into their homes and leaving their pets in our care. The client’s comfort is important, too!

What will you do?

A pet sitter is defined as someone who administers to the physical and emotional needs of the pets of another, in the pet’s home environment.

As a dog-walker/pet-sitter for Peddle & Paws, you will be required to work once or twice a week, mostly in the evenings (between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm), for between one and two hours. Sometimes you will be required to work in the afternoons (11:00 am to 6:00 pm), for between one and five hours. You may be called on last-minute to work, if you are available. You will be needed to work weekdays, as well as on weekends and holidays. All of the work is in La Salle, Manitoba.

A dog-walking/pet-sitting shift is generally one hour in length for which you will be paid minimum wage to start, plus any additional fees (call-out fees, STAT holiday fees) and tips.

A Pet Sitter is Responsible for Such Duties As:

  • Providing all of the necessary care for a variety of pets, in their home. Such duties include, but are not restricted to:
    • Feeding and watering 
    • Cleaning litter boxes or cages
    • Recognizing any illness or injury with a pet, and making a decision regarding its care
    • Walking dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments
    • Providing lots of love and affection
  • Keeping notes
  • Providing basic home security checks
  • Watering plants

Who are we looking for?

Mandatory Requirements of a Pet Sitter:

  • Must love animals! 
  • Must be self-motivated and completely reliable
  • Must be honest
  • Must be able to follow directions precisely
  • Must be meticulous with details
  • Must be confident when making decisions
  • Must have some experience caring for dogs and cats
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must not have a criminal record1
  • Must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license
  • Must have access to a reliable, legally registered vehicle
  • Must be willing to become certified in Pet First Aid2
  • Must be physically fit
  • Must be willing to go through a training and mentoring program
  • Must have neat and legible handwriting

Valuable Qualities of a Pet Sitter for Peddle & Paws:

  • Looking for casual/part-time work
  • Available and wanting to work evenings and some afternoons
  • Looking for a supplemental income3
  • Live in or around La Salle, Manitoba
  • Have access to a cell phone and some knowledge of how to text or send emails
